The peaks of the High Tatras are the dominant feature of Slovakia, so it would be literally a sin not to see them with your own eyes. The best starting point for visiting the High Tatras is the city of Starý Smokovec where you can leave your car in a large parking lot and head to Hrebienok, for example. This is a relatively easy walk on the asphalt road, which will take you a little over an hour. To reach it, you do not need any special hiking equipment.
At the top of Hrebienok you will have a wonderful view of the surrounding Tatra peaks. If you don't want to walk, you can also take the cable car to get there. In case you like adrenaline, you can take the trip down in a mountain cart, or in winter on a sled.
Tricklandia
When visiting Starý Smokovec, do not miss one of the biggest local attractions - the world of trick-art and optical illusions Tricklandia. In one building, you may find several rooms with different mirrors, special graphics, and props that will deceive your brain. For example, you can take a photo with your head cut off.
